Signs of Healthy Sleep
Even more important than the number of hours are these patterns:
- Predictable sleep and wake times most days
- Settling to sleep within about 20–30 minutes
- Sleeping through with minimal wakings
- Waking up refreshed rather than exhausted or grumpy
When to Be Concerned
If your child shows these patterns, you are not dealing with "naughtiness" — you are looking at a sleep difficulty that deserves support.
- Regularly still awake past midnight
- Taking hours to fall asleep
- Waking multiple times through the night
- Very tired and irritable during the day
